How can we improve Poll Everywhere?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Allow users to delete their account

As a user of Poll Everywhere, I want to be able to delete my account if I decide that I don't want to use this product anymore.

    • Sort polls by response date.

After using PE a few years, I have lots of polls (quizzes) accumulated, and I pluck out a subset to use each year. Things get rather difficult to organize come end of the term as I have to sift through all the quiz polls to see which ones I gave. Sorting polls by latest response time would solve this issue.

We do have a way to sort by date, however it is a Labs feature and not on by default. Here’s how you can get it:

        1. log into your account
        2. click the gear icon to the top right and select My Settings
        3. on the left side, click the tab for Features lab
        4. enable the Sort Order feature

When you next go to your My Polls page you should be able to change the default sort order for your polls.

      • delayed response

Is there a way to delay showing the results of a live poll so as not to influence the audiences answer? Maybe a 10 second delay or a "display answers" button?

        • Found a bug in Q&A counting

I posted a test "answer" and upvoted it to +1. I went on another account (where it already showed +1) and downvoted it. Instead of correctly going to 0, it went to -1.

The same bug exists going up from -1 towards 0/1.

          Please fix this. Thanks!

          • Hiding/Showing results when using PollEV Presenter

I use PollEV Presenter and I love it. It would be incredibly helpful to be able to hide or show poll results from within the presentation software (i.e., Keynote, Powerpoint or Google Slides) without having to go into the PollEverywhere site to turn the 'eye' off or on.

You can actually do this right now from the PollEv presenter. It’s a little hidden though.

When you are in full screen presentation mode and displaying one of our polls, if you hover your mouse over the right side of the screen → you should see several grey control icons appear. One of those will be the Show/Hide ‘eye’ icon. You can toggle it there.

We just hide those buttons (unless you mouse over them) to keep the display prettier

            • Allow students to change (delete and resubmit) their answers in open-ended polls

Currently, for multiple choice or clickable image polls, students can clear their response and re-submit. We would like to be able to do that with open-ended (specifically Word Cloud) types. The idea is that as participants change their answers, the cloud would morph as some responses shrink and others grow with the changes to the audience's understanding.

                • Sub-users can copy other sub-users' Polls

Would like for our institution's sub-users to be able to copy polls from other sub-users that they share a group affiliation with. Currently they can only do this if they have admin permissions.

                    • Add option to download poll slides in 16:9 format

The poll slides are currently downloaded in a 4:3 format. Our slides are typically in a 16:9 format, so it would be great to have this as an option.

How are you inserting the poll slides into your slide deck? We recently added some handling to our PowerPoint add-in to match the size of the poll slide to the default size of the master slide in the deck. However, this is only when you are inserting from within our PowerPoint add-in, not when you download slides from our website.

                        I’d recommend trying this:
                        1. open your powerpoint deck
                        2. navigate to the Poll Everywhere app and open the modal
                        3. click the checkmark for whichever polls you would like to insert and click the Insert button

That method should have our poll slides match the size of your own slides. You can read some more about our slideware integration here if you have trouble or more questions: https://www.polleverywhere.com/guides/presenter/getting-started#presenting-in-a-slideshow

                        Thanks for the feedback!

It would be nice to be able to grant other people access to some or all of my polls.
1 - If I will have a substitute teaching for me in 1 class, that person would be able to access my polls. So they could activate/deactivate them, and lock/unlock them as needed during the class. Currently guest presenters don't have this ability unless I give them my email password.
2 - For very large classes (300+ students), I could designate a surrogate to help with creating polls and managing grades.

If you are on a multi-user or university-wide license (and it looks like you are Larry) we do have the ability to add other users access to your polls. Basically, this other user would need to be invited to join the Poll Everywhere account (or get access to a Guest user). They would then log in with this email/password. And, your account administrator then can put the two of you in the same User Group. Each person in a User Group will have access to activate, lock/unlock, and run reports on each other’s polls.

I’d contact your university’s account administrator and have them help get this set up for you. You can read a bit more about User Groups in our support articles here: https://www.polleverywhere.com/support/articles/account-management/user-groups

We can do this today actually! Our gradebook report will give the avg participation and grade for each student or poll, as well as collectively over all of the poll questions in the report. These numbers will be calculated only when a correct answer is set on the poll questions. And, our gradebook report will be available on most of our paid plans.

You can see some more details about our reports here: https://www.polleverywhere.com/guides/presenter/reporting#gradebook

                                • New Poll Creator adds clicks

When inserting multiple choice questions in the old poll creator, I could simply tap the tab key to move the cursor to the next answer field. Now I have to either tab three times and press space (to click on the + button) or tap tab four times (if a blank option is already there). The fact that this is more complicated, and that my action depends on whether or not an existing blank choice is present, is frustrating.

                                  • Ability to have multiple polls active

We have used Poll Everywhere to run polls using a distributed audience in multiple countries. It would be incredibly useful to have multiple active polls going at the same time. For example, it would be great to have an open ended poll open so our global audience can ask questions, at the same having a word cloud poll to gauge the audience sentiment, and a multiple choice poll to see how they are reacting to certain topics and finally a up/down vote poll to see how they are responding to the presentation of the conference. This is a must have…

                                      Hi Eric,

I understand the desire of allowing multiple poll questions to be active and displayed at one time. This was the main impetus and the biggest reason we built our recent Survey Feature. It needs a few improvements, but I think it should work for you (if I am understanding how you are using us correctly).

The basics: if you have a survey (group of multiple questions) active at the same time > you can load and display the results of each individual question in real time either from the web or from our PowerPoint integration. We’ve had people use our survey tool as digital signage to just show individual question results on a PowerPoint presentation loop throughout a presentation.

To show individual question results within a survey:
                                      - click on the title of the poll question in the survey you want to display
                                      - select “Present” on the…

                                    • Option to turn off correct response indicator

Option for instructor to turn off ability of students to see correct response to multiple choice survey questions after the survey has de-activated.

                                      • Option to add title to poll and group questions in one poll

I would love to have option to put title on my poll and also, be able to group questions into groups when having one poll for more topics during session etc.

                                          Hi Rene,

We can do this right now! We call this “Surveys” and is a new feature we put together a few months ago. You can see some of the details on our User Guide here: https://www.polleverywhere.com/guides/presenter/getting-started#surveys

In general, it lets you group questions into a single survey, title and add a description to that survey, and you can get responses Live in the room like one of our regular polls OR send it out afterwards.

                                          Hope this helps!

                                        • Improve reporting for clickable image polls

Results for clickable image polls are currently documented in reports using percentages. The participant's selection is noted as a percentage of the image as a whole.

It would be awesome if the user was able to identify the defined regions of a clickable image poll in a report. This could be done by numbering the regions as they are defined by the user, or by allowing the user to name the regions as they are created. The goal being to make the results of the report more clear by noting the user defined region of the clicked response.

Done! All new regions on clickable image polls will be assigned a readable name by default (Region 1, Region 2….) Furthermore, you can edit the name of a clickable region on new or existing clickable image polls from the Edit menu. Click the new Pencil icon on the top right of the click region.

You can see the details for how here: https://polleverywhere.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/943315

                                            The basics:
                                            1. Create your Clickable Image Poll or click on the title of an existing one to open it

                                            2. Click the Edit button on the bottom right of the page

                                            3. Click somewhere on the image > a small box or “click region” will appear. You may resize this box and drag it to the appropriate place on the image. You can create as many of these regions as you like.

By default, we will name them regions 1, 2, 3….4. Click the pencil icon…
