We’ve begun work on a Moodle integration using the LTI 2.0 framework. This should support Moodle 3.0 and newer.

This integration will allow you to import your class roster from Moodle into Poll Everywhere and export the Gradebook Report from Poll Everywhere to Moodle.

We expect this to be complete by the early summer of 2017 (next 2 months or so).

    • Set up LTI integration with Sakai LMS

We have a number of faculty at Notre Dame who ask us each semester when Poll Everywhere will be integrated with Sakai. I'm sure other Sakai schools would have an interest in this integration as well (list of Sakai schools: https://sakaiproject.org/community).

I know you already have integrations with Blackboard and Canvas. If you created this integration for Canvas with LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability http://www.imsglobal.org/lti/), then creating one for Sakai would be very easy. We would be very interested in helping you to accomplish this integration with Sakai and would offer you the use of our Sakai test server…

        • Presenters would like the ability to limit polls to specific registered participant groups

This was brought to my attention by a professor who is concerned that students may stumble across the response page when a poll is enabled for a different class or section. The idea is to have a secondary optoin under 'Registered Participants Only' that would further limit access to the polls to participants who are registered in a specific participant group on their user profile.

          • Allow Credit/No Credit Responses

Students enjoy the text wall and word cloud options, but currently cannot get points for them. Having a way to assign credit for responses given, without limiting students to specific words, would be a marked improvement to PollEverywhere's functionality. Making the innovative response patterns Credit/No Credit would really motivate and innovate the classroom.

This is interesting. Right now we do give a Participation Score with our Gradebook report that will give credit to students who respond to our Open Ended Poll like Word Cloud and Text Wall. However, our LMS integrations with Blackboard and Canvas do not send this participation score. They only receive the Correctness score. I suspect this is what is happening for you all.

I have opened up a request with our Integrations Team to look into the difficulty/complexity to send a “grade” for our open ended polls. We have to check with Blackboard and Canvas to find the best way to send this information.

Does that sound like it’s describing your situation?

            • Create hierarchy of groups (i.e. subgroups)

I would like to organize my polls with subgroups.

I use this in the classroom, and I would like to organize my poll by the class name then lecture name/number.

We have officially begun the work for creating Folders! There are a lot of details and hard work for us to get this one out the door, but rest assured – we’re tacking this one on. It’s still too early to discuss timetables, but it’s an overall top priority for us

Better organization, no more scrolling down giant lists! Let us know if you have any specific wishes for organizing polls, surveys, groups, and folders.

              • I would like to create a multiple choice question with an option "other, please specify"

                For example,
                Where do you live?
                a) London, Ontario
                b) Strathroy, Ontario
                c) Woodstock, Ontario
                d) Other, please specify
Therefore, I would like to set up a multiple choice AND open ended response in the same question.

This is currently possible by creating two separate polls and then writing your own instructions (on a slide or handout for example).

Combining two on the same visual chart would be interesting. Any ideas/concepts on what that would look like?

                • Ability for students to upload images

Would love for students to be able to upload images that they captured with their smartphone. I want to be able to quickly and easily sift through these images and display them as needed.

                    Hi Scott,

Thanks for your interest in Poll Everywhere!

This unfortunately isn’t possible with SMS, but it’s something we’d like to eventually do for web voting in the future!

                  • Can we integrate this software with the Desire2Learn Learning Management System?

It would be nice to have a quick way to poll students in an online course created in the Desire2Learn Learning Management System software. Our University, Georgia Southern University currently uses this learning management system as the entire University System of Georgia (USG). USG includes 31 higher education institutions. http://www.usg.edu/inst/ Can the Poll Everywhere software be integrated into the Desire2Learn software?

                    • Keep questions from appearing in User's response history (tests)

We would like to give graded Tests & Quizzes using the Survey feature. Our concern however is that the responses then show to the students/users in their response history. This could help them in future tests to see what they said previously.

Maybe this feature could be when the question is created, with a check box that says "restrict question and answer from showing in user's response history"

We actually just released something very similar, although it does not go as far as you suggested. Our new feature will allow you to hide the Correct Answer from a student’s response history. So, while they will know what they selected previously, it does not let them know if they were correct. You can see some more details for this here: https://polleverywhere.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1130833

I’m hesitant to hide the full question and answer however. It’s common for student’s to accidentally register under a personal email address and this response history is the only way we have to rectify the situation. We also have a number of faculty who promote using the Response History for studying and reviewing for exams.

Do you think hiding the correct answer is enough or would more restriction help?

                        • A way for phrases to be kept together in the word cloud format

I would like to see a way for phrases (ie: peanut butter and jelly) to be kept together in a word cloud. In Wordle.net, for example, using the ~ does this. Perhaps using quotation marks or some other characters could accomplish this. That way, "apple butter" and "peanut butter" do not make the word 'butter' alone any larger.

                          • Pie Charts

Instead of using bars can you use pie charts with percentages, percentage and count, or just could. Example: 4 votes blue, 6 red, 10 total or 40% or 4 Votes blue, 60% or 6 red (100% or 10 total). Pie is good. Bars get boring. Think Excel integration/coding perhaps?

We are planning on implementing Donut Charts in the pretty near future (it’s part of our roadmap for the rest of 2017). The idea is to to be able to display the responses to a Multiple Choice poll as a Donut Chart.

It’s just like a pie, but there’s a whole in the middle! I’ll update here when we begin the project

                              • You should be able to incorporate video or audio clips from file or YouTube

show/play video or audio example and then ask students to pick answers based on what they are seeing/hearing on the clip. This would be great for assessment training. For example play an audio clip of lung sounds. Students then need to choose if they are hearing wheezes, crackles, stridor, or clear lung sounds.

                                • Better handling of numeric answers

when numerical answers are required, display a histogram of the distribution of responses, so lecturer can see roughly how many get close to the right answer, and how many are far off.

                                    Hi William,

Thanks for using Poll Everywhere and providing feedback!

This is an interesting idea, but it’d take quite a bit of development time away from other features we’re currently working on. I’m not an educator, but as I think through this, I wonder in how many situations this would be helpful. My concern is that when numeric answers are concerned, they aren’t often always close. For example, if students are solving a problem using a formula, they could get the formula aspect slightly wrong and get an absurd answer, even if they were just one step off. I guess my expectation is that we’d often find that answers that should receive more credit could be further from the right answer and vice-versa.

                                  • Improve Grading for Multiple Polls at One Time

Create an easier user interface for grading multiple polls on one page with the option to give a unique number of points for various answers (both incorrect and correct) without having to click on each individual poll and change the response grading from there.

I grade all of the polling questions at the end of the week, and there can be 20+ polls for each section that I'm responsible for. Having to click on each polling question and changing the grade values for each possible response is tedious and is prone to having me make grading mistake on my end…

We are actually working on a large project right now that should really help with grading polls. We are basically working on re-doing our entire poll creation process (and we’re finally close enough to talk about it).

This will have greater customization and editing for poll questions at the creation stage (including grading). I do not believe this is currently slated to include increased support to our Weighted Grading feature (https://polleverywhere.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/799830) – which is currently in beta testing. But, this should be an easier process soon

I will update this post when we are about to send out the new update

This will be possible in the future, but it may be a while. It’s basically Apple’s decision: Apple doesn’t have any way to embed any live ANYTHING in Keynote for iPad. We switched from Flash to HTML5 so we’re closer, but.. we haven’t cracked this problem yet, and it seems Apple wants to make it impossible.

CSV import/export of poll questions. Or any way to export poll questions at all.
