How can we improve Poll Everywhere?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Allow ODBC link to poll data to facilitate custom queries/analytics

    Give us a way to link directly to raw data or tabular format. I currently manually pull down my poll everywhere data in your 'pivot table' report format and perform custom query analytics and visualizations in MS Access and Tableau. It'd be nice to be able to set up the link to the poll/survey data once and not have to deal with the tedium of version control and manual steps.

  2. Option to turn off access to participant response history

    Instructors using PE for exam review do not want students to have access to a log of their questions to share with each other or future classes. Just turning off correct isn't enough, they want to completely make access to their questions banks not possible.

  3. Auto-archive results of polls

    Auto-archive results of polls, instead of manual generation of reports. This is very useful when faculty wants to reuse the same polls for another class, and they don’t want to manually clear polls or re-insert polls in PowerPoint.

  4. Leaderboards

    It would be great if we could add our independent questions from our polls to be included in a Leaderboard. Example: I have a PPT with several review questions and preknowledge questions that are not in a Competition. At the end, it would be nice to recognize those individuals that had the most correct without having to move to the reports.

  6. Would it be possible to save different branded response page / usernames under my profile

    Would it be possible to save different branded response page / usernames under my profile as I create a few different ones for different divisions of a client and presently have to delete the current one and overwrite with a newly created one for every different event?

    I use an iPhone and intend to always be logged in to the app. For the first few weeks, I was taking polls and would check the invisible nav bar on the right to see if I was logged in, then slide it away.   8. Give instructors in the same group the option to grade each other's questions

    This would allow instructors to have TAs assist with grading, but it should be optional within a group because not all instructor groups would be sharing polls for this purpose.

  9. A better "attendance tracker"

    Please consider a way in the Poll “Configure” options to a) Auto lock after a duration of time and then b) auto report of a particular group (as user (admin) specified) and finally, c) auto clear of results. If all three could be scripted to execute in that sequence, at the intervals specified, there would be some SERIOUSLY added value to using your approach to attendance tracking.

    This would be helpful because most teachers using the approach recommended on your blog are capped at 40 results…it’s yet one more step to have to remember to clear results every time classes…

  10. Unlink title font size from logo size

    It's great that I can upload a logo to a slide, but if I want to change the size of the logo to be small and unobtrusive, I have to also change the size of the font. So either I have a logo the size I want, but small title text, or the font size I want with a big ol' logo image. It would be nice if the logo size and font size weren't linked.

    I’m sorry about the trouble you’ve had with the text sizing. I can empathize with you entirely. Text sizing is just one of those subtly tricky things.

    We’ve had this request before and it is something we’ll definitely look into how we can accomplish. There are some workarounds that you can do with the image itself that you are uploading as a logo. Where we can add some “whitespace” around it to appropriately size. However, that is a somewhat tedious process.

    Another thing that I’ve seen done as a workaround is to upload a Background Image with your logo in the corner and the rest just a white background. That can sometimes cause text to cover the logo but with proper placement and spacing/alignment you can maneuver around that.

    Thank you for the suggestion and bringing this up. We’ll post here as we make progress on these sorts of customization…

  11. Ability to log me out on all devices

    If I log in on someone elses device - whether in the browser, PowerPoint, etc. - and forget to log out, I'd like the ability to log myself out of anywhere I'm logged in. This would improve data privacy/security as I could remove access to see my polls, and ensure that others aren't using my login for their own purposes.

    This would be similar to Spotify's "Log out of everywhere" option, or Google's "Log out of all sessions" ability.

  12. Add attendance export for Sakai

    Sakai seems to have some ability to import an attendance report. It would be nice if Poll Everywhere could export a compatible file.

    Hi, I am an independent event manager and I manage a number of medical events across the country. we use your software as a stand-alone program, which works great for our application. Many of our questions are open source questions from the audience being texted into my computer then displayed for later response. During a speakers talks the audience has the ability to randomly pose questions related to that particular presentation.   14. Provide the APK file for foreign Android platform users who do not have access to Google Playstore

    I was recently using your poll in China. We encountered a difficulty for Android users because they are not able to download the android app because they are not able to access Google playstore. As you know Google is blocked in China. We also tried to locate the APK file but it could not be installed. While the web interface can be used, I think we all agree that the app is much more convenient. Is there a solution that you can provide to allow Android based phone users in China to have access to the app?

  15. Use of ENTER in text-fields - Linebreak not possible

    Students cannot use ENTER-button, and often submit and have to re-do the questions. They cannot even use line-shift as SHIFT+ENTER.

  16. Could we go back to the icon feature instead of labels on the right side of ppt presentation?

    Icon is cleaner. Label tends to cover the contents on the power point.

    We have been keeping a close eye for feedback on this change. We have generally seen that most people appear to be reassured with the labels as the icons weren’t always as clear for folks.

    That said, I definitely understand the desire to not cover up the chart more. We definitely plan on more tweaks to those labels/buttons in the near future to be a cleaner and more beautiful experience.

  17. Could you add a feature to "competitions" so that every class I could run one, and the results would be added to a cumulative ranking?

    The idea is this, each class I could run my current events competition and get a weekly winner and ranking of ALL participants. As well, as the weeks go by I could produce a cumulative ranking of ALL competitions for the group.

  19. Ability to hide target area on clickable image poll through template poll

    I use a template poll to hide results by default for multiple choice type polls. This seems to translate to hiding click markers on clickable images polls but the target areas are still shown by default. I would like the option to hide these as well so students only see the unadorned image when the poll is launched., without have to edit this setting for each clickable image poll.

  20. Censor using a custom word list (in addition to usual profanity)

    My students often post names of classmates and other professors to make fun of them. I'd like to prevent this problem.
