How can we improve Poll Everywhere?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Visme presentation?

I've recently moved all presentations over to using Visme (away from Prezi and Powerpoint). An excellent tool, except I can not embed my polls. Is there a way I can do this with Visme like I did with Power Point rather than having to close out and go to full web screen shot?

    • Map Zoom

In the question format that utilizes a map and allows respondents to click a location (for a question such as, "Where are you from?"), it would be nice to zoom the map on the mobile device that the respondent is using. While using the web response format, the map is quite small and it is difficult to click a somewhat precise location. Seems necessary in order to use this as a question.

      • Ability to add collaborators to polls in teaching context

When using polls as student response systems in a classroom context, it would be great to have the ability to have several presenters per poll so that several members of the teaching staff can take turns presenting polls, collecting responses, and accessing gradebooks and reports. This feature is available for example in Qualtrics and in other student response systems. Ideally the LMS integration should allow the teachers to all access the same polls, gradebooks, and reports

        • Points Allocation

It would be great if you could create a points allocation type of poll. Say I want my voters to allocate a $100 budget across different ideas. A voter could allocate $60 to idea 1, $20 to idea 3, and $20 to idea 4. This can currently be done by having voters answer multiple times on a multiple choice question (say 10 times to allocate 10 points) but this gets very expensive for the poll moderator as each respondent will be submitting 10 responses.

          Thank you for your help!

          • Add formulas to polls

Add formulas within polls that would allow for averaging across a poll’s answer choices. For example, some of our polls ask participants to select between five ratings from 1 – 5. We’d like to be able to average participants' ratings in real-time.

            • Change language instructions for specific polls

It would be good to have an option to change the language instructions for a specific poll. Right now when you change the language settings it affects all polls.

              • Group polls into folders

It’s great that we’re able to keep past polls but it’s extremely difficult to view everything on the dashboard. What would be great is if we could place folders of polls (grouped polls) into separate folders so we can keep the dashboard easier to view.

                • Results leaderboard

We have a large number of clients who are wanting to run simple “quizzes” using multiple choice questions with the facility to have a “live leaderboard” at various intervals. This would be an extremely useful addition if you can select a “live leaderboard” if / when required and part of a set group of questioons. This would need to be a user defined interval as we get asked for the leaderboard sometimes after each question, some half way through and some at the end.

                  • Reporting enhancements

Not sure if these issues are simply user-error and I'm not looking in the right places, but if not I hope this will be of use. Despite the following, I found Poll Everywhere to be a fantastic and useful tool for the most part as did the participants in the conference we used it for.

I have polls that are grouped by which session they apply to in a multi-day conference. When it comes to reporting, I'm having to generate a report for each session because if I select all groups then the report not only shows no distinction between…

                    • User poll completion prominent notification

I have run the same ranking poll several times with the same group. About half the group each time asks" did you receive my ranking? All I see is a circle with a line through it that looks like there is a problem". I know that the red slash circle is intended to warn that the user will be clearing and restarting the ranking poll. Can the message be made more clear and prominent that the ranking poll has been successfully submitted? thanks!

                      • Nested Questions

Nested questions based on how an initial question is answered.

For example, question 1 is a yes or no question. If the respondent answers yes, they're brought to a follow-up question (question 2); if their answer is no, they're brought to a different follow-up (question 3).

Once those are responded to, the answers can be merged into one poll for display.

This is part of a long term plan for us. However, localizing the language for the response page is a significant effort for us because of just how many errors, warnings, and other general text that we display. That is why we began with the Response Instructions on the slide.

I can’t say when we’ll get there, but we hear you. Thanks for the feedback!

                          • Ability to adjust Fonts, etc within the multiple choice options

Would like the ability to adjust fonts, colors, size, underline, etc in the multiple choice options. This would be useful in grammar type questions, when we want people to notice the differences in the multiple choice options.

There is a workaround that I might suggest, let me know if this could work for you.

Our polls support LaTeX which is typically used by math or science professors to give equations. However, LaTeX also supports way to underline, bold, italicize etc… text in general.

You can see a bit how it works here: https://www.polleverywhere.com/support/articles/power-users/latex

And, I usually recommend this website for examples around LaTeX (there’s a whole section on the formatting you’re describing): https://www.sharelatex.com/learn

                              Would that work for you?

                            • Change or Allow Administrators to Customize the Wording of the Texbox for Q&A (So it Doesn't Say Response)

Right now the default message for the Q&A textbox says "Enter a response". The wording above also says "You have not responded." This wording is confusing, we want people to enter a question (not a response.) Please change the wording or allow the administrator to customize the wording

                                  • Unlink title font size from logo size

It's great that I can upload a logo to a slide, but if I want to change the size of the logo to be small and unobtrusive, I have to also change the size of the font. So either I have a logo the size I want, but small title text, or the font size I want with a big ol' logo image. It would be nice if the logo size and font size weren't linked.

                                    • When I advance past an embedded poll in PowerPoint, deactivate the poll

Basically what the title says - it's really slick that a poll activates as soon as I move to its slide in PowerPoint, but when I advance to the next slide after the poll, the poll remains active and people may still be responding. I'd like to see it where it's only active while the poll's slide is being presented.

This is a tough one. We’ve had a couple other folks ask for this as well. There’s a couple reasons we’ve been reluctant to make this change
                                        - first, we really want to make sure that the audience is able to reply. Getting that feedback is the core part of our service so we try to be more lenient in that direction vs. harder time restrictions
                                        - second, it’s fairly common (and easy) for presenters to accidentally skip forward a slide and then go back. And, we don’t want to

Those are the two big ones. We could add a toggle to switch whether we default to de-activate when you leave a poll slide. However, it’s a lot more complexity and a bit risky for us to maintain two different versions for how Activation works since it is such a core part of our entire workflow.

                                        So, it’s certainly not…

                                      • Ability to log me out on all devices

If I log in on someone elses device - whether in the browser, PowerPoint, etc. - and forget to log out, I'd like the ability to log myself out of anywhere I'm logged in. This would improve data privacy/security as I could remove access to see my polls, and ensure that others aren't using my login for their own purposes.

This would be similar to Spotify's "Log out of everywhere" option, or Google's "Log out of all sessions" ability.

                                        example: https://support.spotify.com/us/account_payment_help/account_basics/can-i-sign-out-of-my-account-if-im-signed-in-on-another-device/

                                        • Account Delegation for Poll Execution

We often have classes that utilize multiple professors. They would like to be able to share polls, powerpoint slide decks, and class data more easily for a single class. Account delegation for at least poll execution rights would probably be able to solve this use-case completely.

The ability to “share polls” is something we are currently beginning work on. It’s very early but the idea is that a single person (professor) could create poll questions and then “share” them with other people on the account. They could then present, but not edit these polls.

We’ll post here as updates become available. Let us know in a comment if you’d like to see some of our beta testing program for the feature!
