Educators' Ideas

How can we improve Poll Everywhere?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Allow the creator of the poll to edit the results to manually enter results.

I have a few students without cell phones or another technology device in my classroom. I go around and ask these students what they think the answer it. I would then like to add their responses to the result totals.

  2. Permitting users to change how to respond messages in visual settings

By permitting me to change the respond message I could use PollEverywhere with my french classes, spanish classes

  3. more than 250 chars per question

seems an absurd limit. really a problem for my classroom usage. I'd maybe try to use powerpoint, but that facility is buggy, you can never tell how big the slides will turnout on presentation I saw in my testing.

    Hi Philip,

Thanks for the feedback! The character limit is due mostly to a lack of screen real estate on the chart view. We limit the number of characters to preserve legibility.

PowerPoint is a good alternative. If you’re experiencing a bug, please email us at support@polleverywhere.com so we can get it sorted out.

  4. include profanity filter in the "Edit Multiples" optons

It seems like an over sight that it is missing. But actually, this is something a user will either want to use on every single poll or not care about. It seems it would be better to create a global option to always use the profanity filter on every poll.

  5. email participants scores

I'm using the survey view to administer quizzes. I'd like a way to automatically give each student their personal score. Best would be if in response to submitting the quiz they get their score. But I'd also like a way to set up an email to mail them - if I have to score some open ended questions.

    Hi Binyomin,

    Thanks for using Poll Everywhere!

This is an interesting idea! It’d certainly be really helpful. I’ve added this to the list of features we’re going to be discussing soon (we have these feature discussions a lot). I’ve attached your email address to it, so when we do implement it, we’ll let you know!

    Thanks for the feedback!

  7. Consecutive grouped polls

When polls are grouped, be able to switch to the next one by clicking a NEXT button, or RANDOM within that group of polls.

  8. Make it compatible with active inspire and the promethean software

I am a math teacher and love using your program. 2 things that can make it better. 1. include some sort of equation editor so equations can easily be inserted. 2. make it compatible with the active inspire (promethean planet) software.

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Have you tried using LaTeX in the option fields? It should work if you begin with “latex:”

Regarding Promethean Planet, I’ll keep my eyes open! I haven’t heard of a request for it so far, though.

  9. See realtime results on participants mobile Web Response page

It would be really nice to have a an option to allow participants to see the realtime poll results (on their mobile device) once they have voted.

  12. Use the new groups option to send poll using account details

I want to be able to create a poll then distribute it to one of my groups electronically, they can respond wherever they are.
This will be extremely useful to setup polls to be responded too for flipped classroom feedback to ensure I can modify the next lesson if necessary, or collect important information over holidays or the weekend.

  13. Countrywide Popular polls

Add polls based on popularity of the country, that way, the polls can not only cover local-level reviews of decisions or opinions from a single group, but you can also have country-wide reports of opinions on their land's most talked-about subjects and get opinions.

    Thanks for reaching our Oscar!

That’s an interesting idea. I’ll be sure to add it to the agenda of our next planning meeting around libraries of polls!

  14. A widget that dsiplays my pollev.com page (not just a single poll)

HTML code widget that can be added to a website, blog or other platform that shows the PollEV page. That way, if I am using the platform for a web call or other web event, where attendees are looking at my page, I can push polls when the time is right, and participants can see them real time showing up for them to vote, without leaving the page or getting their cellphones. This is particularly useful when you want to poll real time at the end of each segment with minimal distraction/interruption/delay.

We have some ability to do this now. It’s possible to use an iFrame and embed our pollev.com response page to display the response option AND you can then embed https://viz.polleverywhere.com/:USERNAME as an iFrame to show the responses. We want to create built in copy/paste widgets to embed this combination on your blogs/websites or LMS but there are some problems with Cookies on iPhones that we need to solve before we market this feature.

In the meantime, if you are interested in trying this our – contact our support team at support@polleverywhere.com for how this works

  16. Pictures from file

It would be nice to edit (re-size, crop, etc) and move an inserted picture when formatting the background of a poll.

That’s a great idea! The live polls are going to have a different underlying technology very soon. Once this change is in effect, we’ll be able to better customize things like this. Keep checking back to look for this!

  20. Allow variable columns for answers. 2, 3, 4 columns

This would allow more answers to be visible at one time before they are scrolled out of sight.
Thanks for a great product filling a need.
