Very interesting idea! If I may ask:
- Would you still allow people to submit new ideas after allowing the voting? Or, would it be an up/down voting phase only
- And, would you want to just have a button the presenter can click on the chart to begin to allow voting or a different method? It’s a very interesting idea though! I’ll run it by the team

Hi Brian... I do a lot of idea generation stuff. Before Pollev, this would be done with post-its and sticky notes. The key thing is to separate the divergent thinking phase (brainstorming, idea creation etc.) from the convergent stage (idea evaluation and selection - closing in on the preferred solution).
Therefore, I think it would be good to be able to say "throw in all your ideas, no matter how crazy" without fear of having them immediately ranked or evaluation (as this often puts folks off). Here, the voting option would be switched off.
Then to be able to say "right, let's stop the idea generation and look at what we've got" and get folks to call out or explain their idea in more detail would be good. At this point I would pause the generation process and get folks to review all of the ideas (but no voting let, just looking).
THEN... to either re-open the idea generation (to allow folks to add new ideas that springboard off the ones they've just looked) at OR just open the voting. It would also be really cool to allocate users a set number of votes so they have to ration them (say 33% of the total ideas).
So to summarise, what would be perfect for me would be idea generation (no voting) then voting (no idea generation). You could have a hybrid perhaps where ideas can be added while voting but, above, there are two different thinking processes at play and it's good to separate them :-)
Happy to help further as I'd love to see this feature.
