We actually just released something very similar, although it does not go as far as you suggested. Our new feature will allow you to hide the Correct Answer from a student’s response history. So, while they will know what they selected previously, it does not let them know if they were correct. You can see some more details for this here: https://polleverywhere.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1130833

I’m hesitant to hide the full question and answer however. It’s common for student’s to accidentally register under a personal email address and this response history is the only way we have to rectify the situation. We also have a number of faculty who promote using the Response History for studying and reviewing for exams.

Do you think hiding the correct answer is enough or would more restriction help?

Our professors are very appreciative to be able to opt-in to hide their questions from the student's response history.

We're looking to see if we can also hide the answer the student selected, even thought question is also hidden. Or could there be a delay and then hidden? For instance - the student's answer will show in their history for 24 hours after but then gets hidden?

This is for high stakes quiz & test purposes.

Hi Brian! We're looking for the option to hide the entire question from the response history, maybe it's hidden a bit, make it an effort for someone to check this box off so it isn't a mistaken thing.

Hiding the correct answer won't work for us. To give you a scenario: Imagine a professor will be giving 1 mini quiz a week for the term. questions from Quiz 1 might include answers to Questions in Quiz 6. Students can just go back through their history and see if questions were worded in a way that could help them. It'd be the same as having all their previous quizzes available to them on paper when taking their next paper quiz.

Also - Our professors can be teaching a morning lecture section and an afternoon lecture section. Students could just scroll through their response history to show their friends ahead of time.

I acknowledge that we're trying to use PollEverywhere in a manner that it might not be intended for, these kind of "high stakes" questions and grading. We're trying to find a solution for these graded quizzes. Currently we're using physical clickers, but are hoping that PollEverywhere might be a good solution for Bring Your Own Device. Thanks for taking the time to respond! I really appreciate it.

Students do have access to their response history which is automatically updated. And, this will include whether they got each question correct or incorrect.

To get to the response history:
    - click the menu icon on the top right of the pollev.com/Username page
    - then select “Response history” in the menu
    - the students can see their complete response history and whether they were correct or incorrect.

This is more of a workaround than giving an actual “score” in a notification or something, which I believe is more what you have in mind. We do have some other presenters who want to never show the correct answers or scores to students. So, there is some extra complexity here as well.

Thanks for the suggestion! We’ll definitely look into what this might take

This is interesting. Right now we do give a Participation Score with our Gradebook report that will give credit to students who respond to our Open Ended Poll like Word Cloud and Text Wall. However, our LMS integrations with Blackboard and Canvas do not send this participation score. They only receive the Correctness score. I suspect this is what is happening for you all.

I have opened up a request with our Integrations Team to look into the difficulty/complexity to send a “grade” for our open ended polls. We have to check with Blackboard and Canvas to find the best way to send this information.

Does that sound like it’s describing your situation?

Whew, 300+ class I can sympathize with that! My first recommendation is that all of our paid Higher-Ed plans (Including the Individual Instructor Plan that you are on) does come with our Canvas/Blackboard integration. So, if your university will let you, we can set that up for you with no extra cost. Just send an email to support@polleverywhere.com and we can get you set up.

Otherwise, outside of our integrations finding all the poll questions a students DIDN’T ANSWER is a little tricky for us. We record everything based on poll questions instead of students, so finding a “null case” is hard for our system right now. If enough people are interested, we’ll definitely prioritize it. Otherwise, I suggest our LMS integrations in the meantime
