Reports and Data Runs
Scenario:
Faculty has a combined Canvas set up for four sections of Acct 2122.
The faculty clears/archives his PE data after each class. So, at the end of the day, he has four PE data sets (one for the 8am class, one for the 9:30am class, etc). Faculty needs to transfer the data to his one Combined Canvas course.
Faculty started using PE in fall 2017. During fall 2017, he would select “All runs” to move his four PE data sets into the Canvas gradebook. So, faculty only ran the PE grade transfer process one time for all four sections.
For Spring 2018, he now has 8 data sets(4 for spring 2018 and 4 from fall 2017). So now when he selecst “All runs” it is selecting all 8 data sets.
Faculty could select “Current run” and then select only the data for his 8 am spring 2018 class and transfer that data to his combined Canvas site. Then do the same thing but select only the data for his 9:30am class (and so on for my other two sections). So, faculty has to run the PE grade transfer process four times—one for each of his four sections.
Solution:
Would it be possible to change the way Runs are able to be selected as an alternative to generating reports. Instead of a selecting one at a time, provide checkboxes for the runs so that faculty can check the runs they need. While the duplicate option of poll questions is possible, the number of classes and thus the number of duplicate poll questions will make the Polls area very populated and unmanageable.
Thank you for the detailed workflow and feedback. I can definitely understand the difficulty in running a report on a set of polls which is used that frequently.
It’s a tough problem and reporting can be tricky. I’ll pass this along for our research team and see what we can do.
