Gaming/puzzling during the "waiting" period
Consider a puzzle feature- for the "waiting" time. That would be a great way to let participants to start engaging with the platform.

Hi! Thanks for your suggestion. Poll Everywhere Competitions is designed to be a live, interactive trivia game you can play as a group. Audience members will see their names on a leaderboard after each question and at the end of the Competition.
